I have been an Iyengar yoga practitioner since 2001 and in 2011 I qualified with the IYA (UK) as an Introductory Level teacher. This is an internationally recognized and certified qualification that entails three years rigorous training. Furthermore, I continue to develop and deepen my practice and understanding of this great art form by attending regular classes and workshops with Senior teachers.
Based on the work on the late BKS Iyengar, these classes will focus on alignment, precision and safety in all poses. Great attention will be given to sequencing of the postures. There will be a gradual progression as stamina and flexibility improve. Standing poses, forward bends and lateral extensions, inversions and backbends will be introduced gradually and safely in a variety of ways. I aim to achieve a balance between understanding the detail of the poses and creating dynamic sequences.
Classes are done in bare feet and it is best to come to class on an empty stomach. Please call beforehand to discuss any health problems – there are certain conditions I am unable to teach – or if you want to find out more!
