Class prices vary so please do check on the timetable. Some teachers offer concessions or block booking discounts, please ask your teacher about these.
What do I need to bring to my first class?
Comfortable clothes, an empty tum and an open mind! If you already have a mat, please bring this with you.
What if I am pregnant?
If you wish to attend classes please discuss first with individual teachers, having checked with your medical advisor. We do have a pregnancy Yoga class on Saturday mornings – ideal to help you prepare for the big day.
What if I haven’t done any yoga before?
Then now is a great time to start! There are classes for all levels at Yoga Akasha, including beginners.
What if I have limited mobility?
Yoga Akasha is situated on the first floor, so you would need to be able to climb a flight of stairs to access our studio, if that is accessible for you then there are classes that are more gentle for those who are not so physically adept, or just want relaxing class.
What should I wear?
Clothing that is comfortable to move and stretch in, so either loose and baggy with plenty of room, or typical gym wear like lycra or leggings etc. It is also useful to wear layers so if you become warm while practicing you can remove a layer, which can then be put back on to relax down at the end.
Do I need to bring my own mat?
If you have a mat, please do bring it with you. If you don’t yet have a mat, we have a range of eco-friendly mats you may purchase, or we have some that are available to hire at £1 per session.
How long should I leave between eating and coming to class?
You will feel more comfortable practicing with as little in you tummy as possible, I would suggest 2-3 hours after a light snack and 3-4 hours after a larger meal.
Do I have to book?
Most timetabled classes are drop in, just show up a few minutes before the class to sign in. The pregnancy Yoga class needs to be booked in advance, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more info or to book. Generally you do need to book for courses and workshops.
Where can I park?
The nearest car parks are Pay and Display in King Street opposite the cinema, and next to Iceland/opposite the library. Both are free from 6pm and Sundays.
